North Woods Mysteries
The North Woods Mysteries is a series of 3 Christian adventure books that focus around a group of young people that go through some exciting adventures and learn some incredible lessons. Each book is about an exciting mystery with lots of unknowns. Each book is also filled with Biblical lessons, with examples of God’s great creation, and with lessons that will challenge you spiritually. They are designed to stress that God knows us, loves us, and has a definitely purpose for each of our lives.
These mysteries take place in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is a wonder land of things to see and experience. Early settlers were drawn to the vast deposits of copper and the great deposits of iron ore (things that later helped contribute to the auto industry). It is said that Michigan’s vast forests helped rebuild Chicago after the great fires that they experienced. Many ghost towns began to appear across the peninsula as the mines gave up their riches, and many abandoned railroads left trails penetrating it’s miles and miles of forest lands and wilderness. Beautiful lakes, miles of rivers, and dozens of water falls and endless beaches surround the area, and the Pictured Rocks shoreline often boasts Bald Eagles guarding the Lake Superior splendor. While heading deer hunting in the late 1940’s my uncles told me, we’re coming to Paradise. Soon a little settlement of tar paper homes appeared. That was Paradise! Things are much different today. That is the setting of these Mysteries.
Book 1: Mystery At The Abandoned Logging Camp
Join in adventure as six young people canoe down a river in northern Michigan, headed for an old abandoned logging camp.
When they arrive at the camp, they discover it is not as deserted as they thought it was. Some old maps, some mysterious lights, and some voices from the darkness lead them into an exciting adventure.
Book 2: Ghost Town Mystery
The teens are helping Gil’s Uncle for summer, in a remote wilderness area of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Suddenly, in the quietness of the woods, some mysterious objects turn up in a very strange place, and once again, they have to use their detective skills, to solve this mystery.
Book 3: The Lost Kids Mystery
The old man lived alone, deep in the woods. All of his friends were gone now. His family had left many years ago. Then some more teens showed, up at the old logging camp, and as the camp took shape, mysterious things begin to develop, as the puzzle began to be revealed!

“Why write these books? Am I needing something to do? The answer is, DEFINITELY not! I could be painting a picture, that I could enjoy the rest of my life. It is not that I have the desire to combine a bunch of words that make me to appear super smart. Many authors picture their characters as two people, or groups of people in competition with each other, sometimes to the point of life and death. I have no desire to do that kind of book. Dad taught me to have a sense of humor. Sometimes the things I try to do are a little funny, and even stupid. You may even laugh at me, and I will laugh with you. But the time will come when the shoe is on the other foot. My stories will be stories, of teamwork, stories of pooling our assets, to make things better, stronger, more fun. Learning to be more helpful, more uplifting. That is my purpose for writing.”
